What is a birth doula?
A birth doula serves expectant mothers and their partners throughout all of the stages of pregnancy and childbirth. She is trained to provide emotional encouragement and physical support during the labor and delivery process. Although a doula only provides non-medical support, she is highly skilled in offering a wide range of comfort measures and coping techniques during labor.
As a birth doula, one of my main goals is to “mother the mother” throughout pregnancy and during childbirth. I want to empower women and their partners so that they can have the birth experience they desire. In addition to the emotional support that comes from a doula, there are also many physical benefits.
